Kingston Green Fair 30th May 2005
For the third year running Green Dragon were invited to take the
mobile bookshop to the Kingston Green Fair. Situated in a wooded
park on the banks of the river Thames the fair was a great success
on what was (after an initial blast of thunder and hail) a beautiful
summer’s day.
Green Dragon ran a stall in the kid’s space specialising,
for the occasion, in illustrated children’s books, as well
as all the usual cult classics and hard-to-find titles.
The grand finale of the day was the kid’s parade, lead by
Green Dragon’s very own 13 metre long, black samba dragon – Elsie!
A veteran of many green events, Elsie celebrated her 4th birthday
on May the 1st with a complete overhaul (see picture below) with
newly polished scales, teeth sharpened, and a new scorpion tale!
As the
first
samba drum roll sounded, she slipped out of the shadows under the
trees and slunk her way between the drummers. As she danced she
was joined by the children who ducked under her black satin body
to become extra pairs of legs!
