Future Root's Mongolian Ger.Creating Space

This week work resumed on the Green Dragon Ger (a traditional nomadic Mongolian tent, very similar to a Yurt). Once finished this round, low impact structure will be used as a mobile creative work space, for Green Dragon educational events and children’s activities.

Future Roots woodland workshop.

The 18-foot diameter Ger is being constructed using traditional methods with hand tools. The Ash poles being used are all sourced from the woodland that backs onto Green Dragon’s yard in Sussex and the canvas covers are recycled from an old marquee. The design used was drawn up by Green Dragon with the expertise and guidance of Future Roots – professional Yurt builders who also manage the local woodland. We would like to extend our thanks to Future Roots and their crew for sharing their wisdom and passion with us, (check out their new website on our links page).
